Sierra Grande

Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Chile 12.5%

A friendly approachable wine from Chile, from a world class producer of excellent value sauvignon blanc. Full of tingling aromatics, typical of its grape variety, & bursting with exotic tropical fruit flavours, yet retaining freshness through its natural racy acidity. A classic match for our fish.

PaarlHeights

Chenin Blanc 2007, South Africa 13.5%

A fresh, full medium/dry white wine with a delicate lemon colour, displaying intense floral, guava and citrus aromas, and succulent tropical fruit on the palate, balanced by a clean fresh finish.

Marktree

Chardonny/Semillon/Sauvignon 2007, Australia 13%

Typical plump tropical fruit flavours from the unoaked chardonnay, but given a nice lift & a fresh clean finish from the Semillon & Sauvignon.

Principato Pinot Grigio 2007 Italy12%

Showing all the classic dry minerality of the grape, but also with a delightful pear drop fruit & fullness of body allowing a great match with fish as well as being super on its own.

Cuvee a L'ancienne Macon Charnay 2006 Burgundy France 13%

Lovely peachy aromas on the nose leading to a full and ripe palate of citrus fruits. Long and lingering finish, with gentle acidity make this wine perfect to match to all but our heaviest dishes. Its a mini Chablis if you like, with slightly fuller fruit & slightly fewer minerals.

Reds

Sierra Grande

Merlot 2007 Chile 13%

Deep colour, ripe plum and berry fruit aromas. Warm and supple on the palate with rich fruit and soft tannins. The wine has a silky texture with juicy upfront fruit followed through with a good solid backbone, black liquorice and berry fruit to finish.

Araldica

Barbera 2006 Italy 13%

Ruby-red in colour with purple hues, aromas of ripe raspberries and plums on the nose; this is a medium-bodied wine with soft tannins, an abundance of tangy red cherry and plum fruits laced with a savoury spiciness.

Cotes du Rhone Villages

Syrah/Grenache Darriaud 2006  France 13.5%

A deep, red, medium to full bodied wine. Warm, ripe red fruit with jammy damson characters, gentle tannins and a rounded finish with a slight hint of chocolate. All of these flavours burst forth from the syrah & grenache, & match up nicely with our meats.

Nieto Malbec 2005 Argentina 14.5%

A deeply-coloured, powerful red with great concentration of dark berry fruit. Complex flavours of plums, figs, and dried fruit with a smoky vanilla character & plenty of drying tannins. What better combination is there than Argentinean malbec & steak?

Berrys Good Ordinary Claret 2005 France 12.5%

A classic Bordeaux produced from old vine Merlot and Cabernet fruit from one of the best vintages in living memory. Wonderful aromas of cassis lead to a rich ripe palate with well-integrated oak & lightly drying tannins. This wine really comes alive when matched with our food, especially the meat dishes.

Bacchanalia Crianza Rioja 2003 Spain 13.5%

Delicious deep dark berry fruit flavours in this medium bodied rioja, with a terrific complexity & slight earthy smokiness that has developed over the 5 years. A faint hint of vanilla on the long finish rounds everything off nicely.

Terra Barossa Shiraz 2005 Australia 14.5%

All the delightful full, dark fruits of plums & raspberries with spices & pepper, that you want from ozzie shiraz, with a waft of chocolate coming through as well. Classic balance of fruit, creamy oak & slightly drying tannins make this great on its own or with our meats.

Barolo 'Revello' Araldica 2004, Italy 13.5%

Revello has all the tell-tale Barolo characteristics. A light red coloured wine with hints of orange. It has all the tobacco, leather and violet notes and yes, there is drying tannin, but it is pleasingly supported with plump fruit and a round silky texture. The slight dryness melts into complex fruit with food, especially meats.

Rose

Claude Val Rosa 2007, France 13%

This wine is pink cherry in colour with cherries, toffee and floral aromas on the nose. The palate is rich & smooth, well balanced with fruity character and a dry finish.
